Fast-Start Recipes (Proxmox)

Create an Ubuntu 24.04 LTS cloud-init template

  1. Download Noble's cloud image (.img) from Canonical. (Ubuntu 24.04 LTS Cloud Images)

  2. Create VM with UEFI (OVMF), SCSI controller VirtIO SCSI single, Disk on ZFS or LVM-Thin, Network on vmbr0.

  3. Import the cloud image as a disk, set it as the boot drive, and add a Cloud-Init drive.

  4. In the VM’s Cloud-Init panel, set user, SSH key, and IP or DHCP. Then Convert to Template and clone forever. (Cloud-Init Support)

One-VM AI stack pattern

Provision a VM from your template and install Docker. Inside that VM deploy:

  • Ollama + Open WebUI for local models.

  • n8n for orchestrations.

  • Qdrant or Postgres + pgvector for memory. These are the same containers you used in the Docker and Unraid guides, now living in a Proxmox VM so you get snapshots and PBS backups as safety rails. (Admin Guide 9.x - Index)

Everything on Shared Sapience is free and open to all. However, it takes a tremendous amount of time and effort to keep these resources and guides up to date and useful for everyone.

If enough of my amazing readers could help with just a few dollars a month, I could dedicate myself full-time to helping Seekers, Builders, and Protectors collaborate better with AI and work toward a better future.

Even if you can’t support financially, becoming a free subscriber is a huge help in advancing the mission of Shared Sapience.
